UFF Bin in Denmark

UFF (Ulandshjaelp fra Folk til Folk, or ‘Friendship between People and People’) was set up in around 1977 to collect used clothes in the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.   All UFF companies are Teachers Group-controlled.

There are thousands of these roadside boxes around Scandinavia, although there are  recent reports that many of the  familiar yellow UFF boxes have been repainted and rebranded Humana People-to-People.

At various times the boxes have been banned in some Scandinavian cities and local authority areas.     In around 2002, a series of investigative articles in a national newspaper in Sweden revealed serious financial concerns about UFF in the country and the Swedish charity registrars asked for changes in UFF’s management structure.   The rebranding may be a response to UFF’s increasingly poor image.
