How can I help?
At present the contents of Tvind Alert are written by just five people, and only one has web skills.
We need researchers
We need researchers to add to and help organise our investigative dossier. Ideally, we would like a researcher in every country where Humana has a presence. In addition to what is already published on the web site, we are creating a coordinated series of confidential dossiers that can be shared with investigative journalists and released to the public. Eventually, we plan to combine our research as a published report. All that is needed is an ability to ask the right questions, find out information from published sources, official bodies and the Internet and send it in to Tvind Alert.
We need ‘web journalists’
We would like to find more volunteers to write ‘stories’ for Tvind Alert. This is a bit like web journalism. It means reacting to our stream of correspondents, taking a tip or a piece of information that has been sent to us, following it up, getting answers to a few questions and publishing the results on www.tvindalert.com. This could also involve liaising with investigative journalists around the world. You would not need any experience or journalistic skills, just enough interest.
This would be very good experience for a prospective journalist. In recent months we have had several students from London University’s School for Oriental And African Studies acting as part time ‘interns’. We have provided basic training and references.
We need a webmaster
This site is poorly maintained. We need a volunteer experienced in building and maintaining websites to help put it right. For example, we would like to add message forum, a guestbook, RSS feeds, links to Facebook and Twitter and general improvements to the navigation. No one connected to the site is currently able to do this. Any volunteers?
We need an accountant / fundraiser
There are expenses connected to this site and we need help to organise them. We need a proper accountant and a fundraiser, to organise our very modest finances and help find donations, grants and other sources of income so that we do not have to constantly worry about how the next quarterly hosting bill is to be paid.
We need people to network
This site does nobody any good if nobody reads it. We need someone to manage our mailing list of 800 supporters. We need help with social networking on Facebook, Twitter and other sites. We also need volunteers prepared to maintain lists of journalists, contact officials and email public figures around the world, to answer enquiries by email, and to generally help Tvind Alert running
