Tvind buys luxury car for con
man Amdi
Jyllands Posten, 29 Nov 2002
The Tvind group very recently invested over 150.000
euro's (one million Danish kroner) in a BMW X5, four wheel drive. It
makes it possible for Amdi Petersen, when he might be released from jail in
short time waiting for his fraud-trial in February, to be taken away from the
jail gate in a luxury car with a 284 horsepowered engine.
The prosecutor in the Tvind-case against Amdi and seven
other members of the Teachers Group, Poul Gade, says this doesn't rais the
risk of Amdi Petersen fleeing after a release from jail, although Gade himself
several times turned against a release because of a 'flee-risk'.
According to Gade the purchase of this luxury car makes an
interesting case for the tax-authorities. 'The fact that they spend so
much money on a car, is interesting because Amdi Petersen and several
other Tvind-people for years have declared in their tax-return to have a
annual income from about 10.000 euro (70.000 Danish kroner)', says Gade.
Tvind-spokesman Poul Jorgensen doesn't want to confirm the
purchase of the silvergrey coloured BMW. 'I didn't buy such an expensive car
and I don't know, whether one of my friends has done this.'
