The Tvind dossier

Welcome to the Tvind Alert website.   This is an interactive investigation into the international youth movement and recycling concern Humana People-to-People, together with associated charities and volunteering organisations.   If  you have had dealings with any of these bodies, then read on:

They are all part of a single organisation, Tvind.      This is an empire of supposed 'humanitarian projects' that spans the world, run by a collective called The Teachers Group.      Powerful evidence suggests that the Teachers Group is not in reality a charity dedicated first and foremost to the relief of the poor.   Nor is it a democratic organisation.    It is widely - and in some countries, officially - regarded as a cult.   And it is a ruthlessly effective 'money machine', worth at least $300 million, investing in land, property, businesses and the old clothes trade, allegedly for the benefit of an elite inner circle.

Its Danish founder, Amdi Petersen, is currently on trial in Denmark, together with seven others, charged with $25 million fraud in connection with Teachers Group finances over many years.

Amdi Petersen - cult leader?

The Danish police have revealed what they claim is a secret economic system used by Petersen and his friends to launder millions of dollars away from charities into the Teachers Group 'treasury'. (You can read a brief summary of the police charges here, and the full official document in English here. (pdf file).)

But the Teachers Group is not just a Danish story.     It is a big story in the USA, Canada, Britain, Africa, Russia and China as well - in 55 countries, in fact.      The Danish bureau of serious economic crime only had the power to investigate bank accounts and money transfers through Denmark.   They have no power to investigate in Britain, Canada or the USA.      Is the same secret economic system still being operated abroad?

Using evidence amassed over four years, our dossier now contains a detailed account of the alleged Tvind economic system, how they do it, and why.   We name many of the companies, the offshore accounts, the business enterprises, and the secret properties all over the world.     We detail Teachers Group activities we know about in more than 70 countries, and provide space for people who experienced Tvind from the inside to tell their stories.  We offer a brief history of the Teachers Group, the 'philosophy' of the cult, and the life story of Amdi Petersen.    If you are in any way involved, you have a right to know.   You can contact us here, ask any questions or send us information.

Whether you are a volunteer working on a Humana foreign aid project, a student at one of the schools, a driver picking up old clothes or an ex-member of the Teachers Group, you probably have a story to tell and we would like to hear from you.      So please get in touch and make your own contribution to this web site.
