Netup

A programme to encourage young people to join Tvind college courses and volunteering schemes by substituting labour for course fees.

Instead of paying several thousand dollars in course fees in advance, students undertake to work for several months in a Humana/UFF/Planet Aid clothes shop or sorting centre.

In this way Tvind gets free labour for its lucrative clothes collection and sales operation, plus a guarantee of a college recruit who will in turn eventually be sent out fundraising - if they stay.

There have been lots of complaints about the work and conditions on Netup schemes.

For example - website:  Humana Experience Scottish volunteer Gail Lawrence's web page about her experience as a Netup volunteer in Austria.
