McCORRY EX-EMPLOYEE BLOWS THE WHISTLE

5th June 2005:   Questions multiply about the business ethics of McCorry and Co, the Asian Tvind timber trading company run by Jonas Israel which now has an address in Hong Kong, after a remarkable accusation by a former employee.

In May, we received an email inquiry from a lumber import company in Taiwan, passing on a McCorry US business address, c/o a Mr Labib Barhoumi in Manchester, Missouri, USA and asking if the company was reliable to do business with.

A few days later, Labib Barhoumi himself gave an unequivocal answer to that question.  Mr Barhoumi wrote to us to say he had just severed his relationship with McCorry, after three months, because of its appalling behaviour, failure to abide by agreements, and general business ethics.

In his opinion, working for McCorry, he said, was "like dealing with thieves (they make their money the old fashioned way - they steal it)....Their way of doing business is contrary to the normal way we are used to in the United States, Europe or South America.   If you need further information or documents or for me to testify against Amdi Petersen or Jonas Israel, I am at your disposal."

According to this information, McCorry mainly trades out of Sabah, Borneo, with Jonas Israel as director and George Olsen as product manager.  They also have a US office under the name of Allwood McCorry Trading Company in Clear Water, Florida 33763, USA.    Full email from Mr Barhoumi.

5th April 2003:  We have been notified of a major Tvind timber trading company, McCorry and Co, with a presence in Malaysia, Brazil, Belize, USA and Europe.  In Malaysia, it is run by the leading Teachers Group member Jonas Israel.

We believe it is likely to be a Teachers Group intermediary company buying the timber from Tvind's Floryl plantation in Brazil (and probably others) perhaps to avoid tax liabilities - in classic Tvind style. We invite more information.

In Russia, another Tvind TG member, Kim Bonde Anderson, is running a Tvind timber company, according to information recently sent to Tvind Alert.    more

Looks like the company is present not only in Malaysia, but also in USA, Belize, Brazil and Europe.   On something called WoodPlanet.com I found something called "Stocklist for McCorry & Co Ltd", updated June 15, 2001. Amongst other things it tells this important thing: "Our Brazilian supplier states the following:"   Then comes some bla,bla.    And then: "Our reforestration project is situated in the state of Bahia. It is a 40.000 acres project where we right now are in the process of thinning the forest......"
